As I have mentioned elsewhere, throughout my younger days I attended a total of three schools & was expelled from two of them. I became self educated & have never regretted it. I have both fond & fruitful memories of these years but only a void where I succumbed to attendance in a school classroom. I made great use of my 'free time', reading much of the world's finest literature, sneaking into rehearsals for concerts & recitals, learning all I could about the contents of almost all the London galleries & museums & much more. I carry so much of this with me ( at the age of 91 ! ) I am continually dipping into an almost bottomless repository. I carry all this & much more with me - it has become a source of constant delight & for which I bless my good fortune for being me & no one else.

I would wish this to carry no boastfulness or arrogance, that is not intended.

And university lectures can begin at 8am.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

They don't make 'em like you anymore.

Thank you Beef Oven - more to follow. The war finishes so I leave the RAF. You're not supposed to do that ! AWOL !!

The RAF police never thought of searching a small tent in a valley at the foot of Ben Nevis.

Then there's a warrant out for your arrest!

              Beef oven,

Became unwell. Serious chest infection, went home, got better, gave myself up. The authorities were surprised. Firstly, sent to doctor for full medical check, OK. Then to some religious character who told me to get down on to my knees & pray. What fun I had with him! Then to a psychiatrist - saw his report later. Could find no problems , in fact I had the ability to assess all facts & act accordingly. Not the ideal person to have in the services ( his comment ! ) you're meant always to do exactly what you are told.!
              .
Left a month early as I was categorised as a class B worker. The sergeant told me there were two categories of class B worker. 1. Building workers 2. Trouble makers.

Am still wondering which was my category as I received a glowing report on leaving ( ? )

I thought the glowing reports were from Christmas Island

On the balance of probabilities, you are a class B, category 2

R3 is responsible for this whole project - a pathetic attempt to increase listener numbers of Breakfast and Essential Classics.

That's extremely bad news. They'll be introducing a second edition of Breakfast at midday, for the teenagers, following their lie-in.

Well it certainly doesn't happen a the posh school where I work! 8.30am in some cases or even earlier with individual music lessons! :)

When I was at boarding school, the "rising bell" went at 6.40 a.m. By the time e started lessons at 9.00, we were fully awake.

                          You were spoilt
By then we had already done a 10 mile cross country run, cold shower and harmonised 20 Bach Chorales

                              And your point is?

(& I don't mean the point of your post above)

Was all that before or after the 50 press-ups?
