I think I'll get that. I just need to make sure that my active speakers are compatible with it because I've put my amps and passive speakers in the loft and I can't go through the reverse-trauma.
Btw, I can't remember if you said you own this particular piece of kit.

ps3
I'm still trying to decide which dedicated internet radio kit to get (at the moment, the decent-looking ones aren't particularly cheap, so I'd like to try to get it right before I buy.)
This morning, being being particularly bored by the offerings on the Sunday Morning programme (Satie Gymnopedies followed by the scherzo from Mendelssohn's Midsummer Night's Dream, yet again - yawwwwwwwwwwwn) I decided to see if my old PS3 could do internet radio. I could use the browser to go to internet radio stations - but nothing would play (I seem to remember that the PS3 doesn't support MP3 natively.) Then I discovered that a TuneIn app has been released for the PS3 (TuneIn is a sort of front-end site for "easy" access to lots of internet radio stations.) I downloaded and installed the app from the PS3 store (it's free), and I've now got it up and running. I've tuned into Audiophile Classical, and I'm currently listening to Spohr's violin concerto no.7 (I tend to steer clear of Spohr, but this concerto isn't three bad at all. And certainly more interesting than Satie's Gymnopedies for the umpteenth time.)

Audiophile Classical is now playing the Symphony no.6 by Karl Weigl (did someone say "Who?" Ah, it was me ...) Here's his page on IMSLP:
Fascinating piece: simply can't pigeonhole it. Definitely late romantic, hints of Bruckner, Reger, even Elgar - but then offset with gritty dissonance. Would definitely like to hear it again. The thing that I can't get over is that I've never heard of him - and I've spent >45 years doggedly ignoring the "repertoire" and roaming about the byways. It really does underline the truth that there is so much music out there which is worth hearing and which hardly ever gets a chance to be heard.
One problem with the internet stations is that there are so many (even confining the list to strictly "serious" classical, there are several hundred stations.) It would obviously take a mind-boggling amount of listening to even attempt to sort the good from the not-so-good.
One point: the sound is superb (I'm feeding it through my main stereo system.) I've always found this from Sony kit - the engineers who work on their sound systems obviously have very good ears.

I have not tried it yet but https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTiW7VW-t90&app=desktop looks to be of interest.

Audiophile Classical have just played Wagner's "Faust" overture - I didn't even know it existed. What a stunning piece! (And I wouldn't rate Wagner as my favourite composer by any means.)
First morning in the company of Audiophile Classical has left me seriously impressed. (And - the best thing of all - complete works: not a bleeding chunk in sight!)

With my old system finally giving up the ghost a week or so ago, yesterday I took delivery of a Yamaha micro system MCR-N870D. I bought it largely because I can't be faffed with separates etc, I am not well up enough on technology for that. A friend has the same system and says it's great. It connects to my computer wifi so I should be able to listen to internet stations through it. I fear it may take a bit of setting up, so will be calling my computer geek friend around to help, I'm sure. I will let you know what it's like.
