    Trevor Watts on Austrian Radio

Broadcast yesterday, this programme is on their equivalent to our iPlayer. ichPlayer?

Hosted by Andreas Felber, it's available for a week, apparently.

"It's all his choices", Mr Watts says in his email, "I had no input to that, which is the way I like it anyway".

    Enjoy!

I read a (very) long time ago that Trev has a wardrobe full of old Splinter gig tapes avec Tubby Hayes. Free time.

And he is holding on to them.

    Is this true?

    BN.

Trevor released this one via the Canadian guy doing Reel Recordings, now very much missed. It might turn up in a second hand rack or charidee shop somewhere. Good stuff - surprisingly jazz-rockish in places - you hardly get to hear Stan T here at all, sadly.

        Thanks mucho for that!

I always wanted to hear what that band sounded like.

Open the wardrobe! Free the tapes! Let the C90s romp on the beach!

        BN.

Tubby turns out to be something of an ear opener, to say the least. The words "duck" and "water" coming instantly to mind.

He was a huge Joe Henderson fan....I once saw him clutching an import"Inner Urge"...

Which I ripped from his hands and raced down Gerard Street....Taxi!

Hm. 26th February, according to mine. Was it announced on that broadcast then? My Austrian is not very good.

No idea, but my rotten schoolboy German came through translating the following text:

Trevor Watts' 75. Geburtstag am 26. Februar bietet willkommenen Anlass, die Arbeit dieses wichtigen Einzelgängers der europäischen Improvisationsmusik in Erinnerung zu rufen.
So, happy 75. Geburtstag am 26. Februar, Mr. Watts. Here's to noch 75 Jahre, if you see WATT I mean.

Trevor Watts' 75th Birthday on 26 February offers a welcome opportunity to call the work of this important loner of European improvised music in remembrance.
