It was one track from a quartet with Gordon Beck, Ron Mathewson and Tony Levin. Stan Sulzmann was playing flute on it and got slightly over-powered by the rest of the band: though that's a criticism of his choice of instrument rather than what he played on it.

Jamie Cullum also played Charles Fox's original introduction to the session - interesting to hear the difference between the Radio 3 late 70s presentation style and the Radio 2 2011 one.

Is Gordon Beck still active?

Nevertheless that flute playing was amazing imv - though Stan wouldn't tend to play flute on a fast number like that today: reserving the instrument ballads.

Sorry to hear that. I was aware that I hadn't heard much mention of him recently, but didn't know why.
