    The Jazz Epistles

One of my favourite jazz albums is 'Jazz in Africa Volume 1'(CAMDEN CDN 1004) featuring The Jazz Epistles. It was recordeed in Apartheid South Africa during 1959 with pianist Abdullah Ibrahim(Dollar Brand), altoist Kippie Moeketsi, trumpeter Hugh Masekela, trombonist Jonas Gwangwa, bassist Johnny Gertze & drummer Makaya Ntshoko.
It's a mystery why the joyful, spirited and deeply moving music on this 72-minute CD isn't better known.

yet another great album from 1959 jazzrook .... that burst of alto from Kippie grabs the ears

i found and like this very much; it has the lyrical feel of Abdullah Ibrahim's recordings [The Mountain] but has its own distinctive attack

According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe.
