Quite shocked by the names on this link as there are many favourites of mine who I wasn't aware had passed. Derek Watkins was particularly sad as he was a mainstay of many of the big bands I have heard over the years. There were others who seemed to be mainstays of recordings from the 50's and 60's including Al Kiger, Ben Tucker, Peter Appleyard, Al Porcino (trumpeter), Jim Godbolt and Laurie Frink. The latter played trumpet in many big bands but I was totally unaware how much she was involved in coaching players like dave Douglas and Ambrose Akinmusire.
