Spent part of today listening to my interview with Frank done a couple of years back for Jazz Library, but unfortunately not able to be used before the series ended. Interesting chat, and great to hear his reminiscences of working with Eckstine, Lucky Millinder and Eddie Heywood in the pre-Basie days. Plus, of course, lots of stories about Basie, the Apollo, Sweets, Frank Foster... A very nice man, and a great player. Some boardees may have a recording of a set he did on Jazz Notes, just around the time I took over from Digby.
