    ...they will selll us the rope

    Alyn sandwiches a lot of blues tracks between some hip ensemble works

    Julian chats with ms Tobin, vocalist, and plays tracks from new cds etc ..

    Geoffrey does Billie who really really sang jazz

    Kevin presents Paul Dunmall on Jon3
    Paul Dunmall (saxophones, flute, bagpipes); Mike Fletcher (saxophones, flute);
    Percy Pursglove (trumpet); Mike Hurley (piano); Chris Mapp (double bass); Mark Sanders (drums)

    I see Alyn is playing a track called "My Baby Dont Squawk"...

    Is he telling or instructing us something about R3 audiences here? Or is he having a go at my angry ducks? Shame either way.

    I will be listening to Joe Newman on Utube...some lovely 50s mellow stuff and I could never really get myself to like Roy Eldridge's output from the same period. Shame too I know.

      Tobin or not Tobin - definitely not the question; time for "some" to reconsider her jazz credentials, imuho.

        The Raincoat number, Leonard Cohen, showed a very strong singing talent, in my view. And I have never felt a good singer should be strictly tied down to Jazz.
        The studio session of Little Girl Blue inevitably caused a comparison with US versions. When a British singer puts on an American accent, I automatically downgrade her to second rate. She ought to be able to shout, growl and squawk without that.

            Ah but Christine is Irish, that's an Irish accent, and so, coming from halfway across the Pond, I think we can forgive her...

            (I used to think Eamonn Andrews was american, as a kiddy)
