    It's the 1950s, they are all on the UK Esquire label and I win the graphic design prize. And a Rotring drawing pen.

        Esquire used to repackage Prestige albums for the UK market with a retinted cover shot or often a futuristic line drawing. My fav was Sonny Rollins "Moving Out" that had an arty b/w scraperboard line graphic of a sputnik. Tres hip et humour, I treasured that. I've since found out that the bloke who did a lot of them also did much of the design for Freedom News the old anarchist mag. Trouble maker.

          Love the trumpet solo on that kenny Graham album but boy does that band sound laboured and unswinging. It is almost as leaden as anything recorded by Stan Kenton. Makes you wonder what Gillespie's big band would have made of that chart.
