Recently bought Wayne Shorter 'Mr. Gone - Best of the early years'. 12 albums on 10 CDs, 11 with Lee Morgan, 8 are Blakey's Jazz Messengers for just over a tenner. Now that's a bargain.

Maybe give the sources, if possible, when pointing out bargains, otherwise it just becomes a gloating thread. Interesting so far, but would be good to know where there are any bargains to be found.

I'm happy to go with that, though I thought there would be some CDs and DVDs, and maybe some downloads, mixed in here. Clearly the "freeness" of Youtube is pretty much unbeatable, bargain wise - unless we can persuade people to pay us for watching or listening.

I sit on a fence, in that I also listen to classical music, and there are still many who buy CDs because they can be very cheap, sometimes in huge box sets, and also the sound quality is often better. I think you've seen the bargain thread - mostly classical - in another section of the forum - http://www.for3.org/forums/showthread.php?1061-Bargains It's been going for a few years now.

I have looked for some of your suggestions on Spotify, which might provide better sound quality in some cases, though I think the quality might be better in the Premium version - which I have. Here is Money Jungle - http://open.spotify.com/track/71fjV101uI8xKddKnEjOZi and my nostalgia trip to Jimmy Smith - http://open.spotify.com/track/0bv5vUJCvXM9G0cbjeikyY and Dizzy Gillespie - http://open.spotify.com/track/1PDvYkmiUVnFfUivuoqQUP

Oh - for CDs the Selections catalogue (hard copy is better - easier to use) sometimes has some great bargains - http://www.selections.com/music/jazz-music/

i have invested in a piece of kit to digitise all my '000s of cds and have removed the storage shelves with great benefit to my living room! a box half the size of a shoe box can carry 2TB od data - some 30k cds! and sounds well enough to my aged hearing ...

now if only i could get all the books .... but i must confess to buying a book this month, rather than a kindle dld, and find myself enjoying it greatly ....[not available as an ebook] in my later 60s i am confronted with the fact that the hard copy vinyl, cds and C90s are simply a burden to whoever has to dispose of my belongings when i kick out ... and having performed this service for my sister i have developed a quite tough minded attitude to wanting to possess stuff comforting though stuff may be ...

I am leaving my entire collection to R3 so that they'll have something (decent) to play when they are privatised. All that Elmo.

Yeah OK, its a tax scam. I have spoken to HMRC and its well cleared offshore.
