Is there a Jazz bargain CD thread?

Title says it really. I posted this recently on another part of the boards - http://www.for3.org/forums/showthrea...702#post339702 - not sure if that's reasonable, or if there is a need for a bargain thread in a specifically Jazz related area.

    A very good idea.

I picked up a 8 album/4cd box set of Lou Donaldson's early/mid Bluenote dates on Real Gone Jazz. I paid £2 for it in a charity shop but I think they go for c.£10 new. The sound is good, but minimal track listings etc. RGJ seem to be hooving up/ripping off entire back catalogues...they also have sets by Dorham, Gigi Gryce, Mobley et al.

Not sure about the ethics of all this as I think Lou Donaldson is still alive and they all must have families entitled to royalties?

    BN.

Btw. they claim to remaster but I can see no way from the original tapes. Prob "remastered" from later Bluenote CD reissues....

OK - I'll start one off - and you and others can start to fill it up.
