Our version of "Just a sittin' and a quackin'" is much admired. On both sides of the pond.

But this morning I bought a MINT copy of Art Pepper's Blues for the Fisherman in Newport market for four pounds, so whooooooooooooo cares! Anymore.
Isn't it great how those marvelous old live recordings of Art Pepper are being promoted by Laurie Pepper.

I see she's released a complete box set of Art's Ronnie Scott sets...it was indeed a remarkable place to be.

Sorry I can't make it to the Hellmouth Jass Fest this weekend (even though I work near Filton); hope everyone there has fun.

Watched MOTD, finished at 23-55, 5 minutes to take dog for a pee, then sat down to listen to Geoffrey Smith's Jazz on two of my favourite jazz musicians Eddie Lang and Joe Venuti and waited and waited. Which was okay until then it was announced that they going to cut a chunk off the start to enable them to catch up with the rest of their early morning schedule This meant starting half way through the 5th. track of the playlist!

This morning I thought I'd listen to the whole programme off the iPlayer but was only able to hear the same cut version that was broadcast earlier ? http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01r0yw8

They taketh the pee me thinks

A BBC program exec writes..."apologies for cutting a part of tonights jazz. Next week we'll cut the fekin lot."

DID you know that after a nuclear war only opera and deaf cockroaches will survive?

I think BBC execs will also survive the "Big One", with an enhanced pension... and a consultancy.

In the void of R3, can I recommend Peter King's 2011 autobiography? Fascinating and deeply disturbing, esp his heartbreaking description of meeting and playing with Bud Powell in Paris.

Many thanks for getting in touch with Geoffrey Smith Jazz. I’m afraid we only have the right to put broadcast material out on the iPlayer. As the first third of the programme was not broadcast because of the Opera overrun, it cannot go on the iPlayer due to these rights restrictions.

This won’t help a great deal but both of the programmes after the opera were cut down, so Geoffrey Smith wasn’t the only programme to suffer.

                          Best wishes,

                          Zoe

Beeb may be having a problem with the word RENDITION....

                              1) performance of musical composition....

Following the success of the opera "Nixon in China"last year, the BBC will broadcast "Savile at the Beeb" at this year's proms.
