I looked at the playlist last night and wondered if it was incomplete...shouda known that Almighty Opera was going to be the reason it has been truncated.

It won't be long before JRR is shunted hither and thither when the Yanks move their clocks forward an hour to EDT on 10 March and Live from the Met starts at 1600 GMT. BST doesn't start until 31 March.
all words are trains for moving past what really has no name

But this morning I bought a MINT copy of Art Pepper's Blues for the Fisherman in Newport market for four pounds, so whooooooooooooo cares! Anymore.

Bruce is right, the advent of EDT means no JRR next week, and late evening slots (and one shorter show) before we are back to normal at 5 at the end of the month. I shall be taking advantage of my week off to be at the Bristol Jazz Festival on 2 March.

With frequent disruptions expected to JRR over the next few weeks thanks to live opera, perhaps it's time to resurrect this 2009 Grauniad editorial(with comments):

Editorial: BBC should accomodate 45 year old Radio 3 programme rather than messing it around

A BBC Exec writes..."My jazz "request", if you want some jazz played, then get down to Tescos and buy some Kenny Ball records! Stop sponging off the state!"

typical BBC Exec El Senor, not knowing that Tesco's stock CDs not records .... bet the last time a BBC Exec shopped in Tesco was 1954

A presenter writes: Thanks for noticing that the programme has only lost one edition since 1 May 2012 and until next month's changes only three editions were scheduled later than 5pm, which was during the Proms. It has therefore had the longest un-disrupted run in its regular slot for some years. The BBC's commitment to Live at the Met is always likely to cause problems when EDT kicks in before BST, but the programme team has worked hard with the schedulers to try and reduce the disruption over the last year.

PS Calum, thanks for the good wishes about the gig. It is indeed the band that was on the wireless...

Nothing personal Alyn! Just that Orwell's,"the BBC is a cross between a lunatic asylum and a girls public school" is once again only too true.

I may also be in Bristol for the Fest with the Lee Morgan Mallard tribute band. We will wave our jazz accordians on Park Street.
