oh that was a while back ..... at one point the GP said don't tell me how big it is, i can see from here .... i am ok folks ..... just a few age related dysfunctions and iatrogenic disorders to cope with ....[never ever take anti depressants to elevate mood and lower blood pressure .... remember remember One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest] ... a month off those tablets and feeling myself again ...

So JRR is roughly representative of the jazz tastes of the R3 audience/free market? A kind of "hidden hand" product allocation? With no "state" intervention? I would have thought that Peter Nero and Kenny Ball would have been right there amongst the top selling white goods.

Having listened to JRR for quite a few decades, I feel Alyn Shipton's presentation just suits the JRR prog fine.

GS now brings his personality too, to JAZZ, just wish they could move away from the graveyard shift to something earlier but beggars can't be choosers I suppose.

It's been a few months now since the introduction of the 'new' JRR, so I feel I can now comment on the content. A track by Steely Dan was played last week, this would have never been considered in the past, (I don't care if Victor Feldman and Wayne Shorter are on it, they were just there for the money). Also there seems to be much more meandering tuneless world music featured which doesn't fit the description of jazz. I don't think it's Alyn Shipton's fault. He certainly knows his subject, and his previous Jazz Library programmes were excellent. It's down to BBC manipulation. Where have all these non jazz requests suddenly come from? I'm sure nobody dared to send in such requests when the others were in charge.

Glad to see my request generated some reaction.

He's gonna love the next one.
