My old mate from Bristol days Graham Clark came down to London last weekend to front pianist Kate Williams's trio, at the Princess of Wales, Primrose Hill. Manchester-born, Graham nowadays lives in Buxton.
Violinists don't get that much coverage on dis bored, but I think Graham to be rather a fine exponent. I may have posted these links on the old BBC forum, if so here's a reminder - and an object lesson on being able to blank out pub conversation! Paul Kilvington delivers some lovely backing, and a solo.
The other clips available on Graham's website are well worth taking time out for as well, imo
The clip of "Autumn Leaves" Graham has annotated to highlight other people's mannerisms in his playing ; on "Allen's Alley" Kilvington takes a solo I'd die to be able to dream up; they're joined by Pete Hartley, who once was in Barbara Thompson's Paraphernalia, while the trio Clark Thorne Fell plays improvised freebop.
Hope some will enjoy!
