            As King Kennytone himself sez:

My views on this kind of thing are well known.

The JLU programme with Massarik's notorious "torrent of hate" outburst must have been broadcast towards the end of 2006. Here's my letter which appeared in Richard Cook's 'Jazz Review'(DEC/JAN 2007):

"I was amazed and delighted to hear a piece by John Coltrane with Rashied Ali from their 1967 album 'Expression' on Radio 3's usually conservative Jazz Line-Up recently. Unfortunately, a sour note was struck by their regular guest commentator, Jack Massarik, who could be heard muttering "torrent of hate" when the track finished. Surely Jazz Line-Up could find a less reactionary critic for their jazz discussin slot?"

[ Come on, Jack, it's time you retired - Ed.]
