I was hoping for an easy one (to guess) like something from Joe Henderson on Unity well done anyway

It <should> be the McLaughlin, but I <bet> it's the Silver.

So, ten points to me as nobody guessed correctly.

Still I hope you liked it because I think it's a brilliant, haunting tune from a special album.

Absolutely right OG, it was Morning Blues.

I saw the TV programme of the recording on Sky Arts a week or so before making the request. That is a great session; Wayne puts in an appearance on only a couple of tracks, and really it's a duo set of piano and guitar. I remember hearing the trio's version of Limbo (originally on Sorcerer) on Brian Priestley's Radio London show. On that, Wayne really rips into the changes on tenor. As this was recorded in '86, about a year after he left Weather Report, it must have been a relief not to have to struggle to be heard over Zawinul's keys.

Morning Blues is the standout track for me, so thanks again to Alyn and the JRR team for playing it.
