    Bobby Wellins special, The Jazz House, 8 Feb 2012

    Stephen Duffy presents a special edition of Jazz House, curated by saxophonist Bobby Wellins.

    The show traces Bobby's early inspirations featuring his musical collaborations with pianist Stan Tracey. There's also music from the artists who have informed Bobby's music making including classics from Charlie Parker, Clifford Brown and Lester Young.

    This was excellent. Bobby Wellins is a fine raconteur, with amusing stories about his encounters with, among others, Zoot Sims, Dizzy Gillespie and Lester Young. His choice of music was good too, with a couple of surprising non-jazz choices.
