Pops' schmaltz beats Jamie Cullum hands down.

I had a hard time deciding what to put in the good stuff - it would have been a very long list

Schmaltz seems to be under rated - much better than bad.

                Baaaad is a different matter...:

This was critisized by Pop and Soul critics for lack of structure and simplicity, it bears a stong resemblance to 'So What'. Odd that those are the types who often accuse Jazz of being over fussy and cerebral.

'Old Warhorses' that I don't mind hearing again and again.

Point of clarification here: when I said Baaaad I meant, "appalling, cringeworthy, execrable". I did not mean that the R. Williams video was Baaaaad (meaning good).

                      Obviously.

I get your gist even if I don't necessarily agree with all examples, looks like you don't like the young pretenders. At least Robbie can sing in tune, have the backing to afford decent players, even if all his arrangements are borrowed. I note, however, few recent examples of good jazz.

His material may have been thin, but he was meticulous as to how it was delivered.

I think I could get to like 1, In parts minus the drum solo 2 could be OK, 3 I find unpleasant and lacking tune and charisma.
