Fabulous. I have the album of this. I'm assuming its the same recording. It's fantastic. Really interesting to hear how much of the studio recording was "written", if you see what I mean.

The CD I have is only A Love Supreme live (the only time it was performed in its entirely other than in the studio, it seems). It is 15 minutes longer than the studio version (mostly due to a longer sax solo in Part 3). It shows that much of what was recorded in the studio was only sketchily written, and the live version of Acknowledgement sees Trane using the F pentatonic in root position, giving it a different flavour to the studio version.
But I see the DVD also has Naima, Ascension and Impressions. These must be the versions that are on a double CD I noticed from these concerts, which also has a version of My Favo(u)rite Things. (One I don't yet have, I think. Which would take me closer to my goal of 17!)
Also, you can't buy these DVDs singly, only as a set, it seems. So that gives me budgetary decisions to make. (Damn you Jassrook and Byas'd! <shakes fist> ). Do I want this more complete CD or the DVD set, and does that trump my desire to have the Albert Ayler box set I wanted?
grr
