    Mingus's 'Oh Yeah' was the first jazz album I heard back in the early '60s. Recorded 50 years ago on 6th November, 1961 it still blows me away today.

    a masterpiece of the 20th Century jazzrook [thanks for reminding us] and it still blows me away as well ... back in the 60s this was a devotional piece for the lads and yours truly ...

      Agreed Mingus at his peak. An Anniversary thread would be a good thing, not as a trainspotterish exercise but to remember neglected masterpieces.
