This just came through the email, which I'm glad to share:

Orphy Robinson , Steve Williamson, Pat Thomas (Blacktop) live at The Cockpit's "Jazz In The Round", 30th January 2012.Video by Mario Radinovic, Sound recorde...

Pat comes on like a latterday Don Pullen on that clip, and it's always good when Steve Williamson puts in an all-too occasional appearance these days.

Black Top seeks to create free improvisation out of current music of black origin idioms (deliberate low case there), and is I understand an idea of Pat's and Orphy's. Other clips well worth investigating there.

what a good idea; the family of Gil Evans let this nice young man loose in his archives and he came up with this which kinda slipped me by last year or two ...... came out in 2012 but still as fresh as daisies!

Chromatic, though - not whole-tone - unless the term means something else when applied to pan pipes.
