From memory, did Tubbs join in one that one, Calum? He did sometimes when Americans guested there. That would have been interesting - for comparisons.

I'm pretty sure Tubby Hayes was a big sitter-in (after all that's how he met Ronnie Scott)

Tubbs was in the audience when Griffin first played the Bulls Head. He asked Griff if he could sit in. Griffin, who didnt know him then, just rolled his eyes and mumbled, "well, alright". Hayes roared into his first solo and Griffin shouted..."Hey, alright, Fatty!" A remark not much to TH's liking.

Having only ever heard the recording below I hadn't realised this song was that old! Amazing how much the arrangement changes the feel of the tune by the time of Blue Eyes' recording it:

if you ask bass players who they want to listen to more of this is one of the top answers

Although short, mostly, these clips from the BBC website are well worth skipping the commercial breaks on other channels to peruse:

Kenny barron is a longstanding favourite, when i saw him at Bradleys in NYC 25 years ago he had hair and was slim, but then again yours truly was hirsute and lithe!!

this is just a stonking live set

Just stubbled upon this pop group who appear to have been something of a Youtune sensation. It's not jazz but I can't imagine this kind of music existing without jazz. Fascinating to see how creative pop music can be when played by talented musicians:-

This is quite good too. Probably the first time a Beyonce tune has made it to this board :-
