I would agree with practically ewverything you say, were it not for the fact that you would appear not to have seen Evan parker's tgrio with John Edwards and Tony Marsh, which similarly uses going in and out of pulse, where pulse is always present at a subliminal level; or many other free jazz groups per se operating today, here and elsewhere, as they always have done. The range of "harmony", implicit or otherwise, merging into and out of "sound", microtonality etc., is and has been there, too. For me, anyway!
