    Don't forget ...

... you should be complaining too. RW on Feedback in a few weeks' time. A lot has been said about the classical music programming but not much about what has happened to jazz.

You can hear the points (such as they were) that were made in this week's Feedback here (about the last five minutes if you want to slide through the rest) to put things in context.

Here are the contact details for replying via the internet or by post. [NB Try to use whole sentences and capital letters where needed!!!]

YES FRENCH FRANK, I WILL CONTACT ROGER AND TELL HIM 'WHAT FOR' ABOUT 'JAZZ LIBRARY'. EVEN THOUGH HE MAY CONSIDER MY COMMUNICATION TO HAVE NO MORE VALUE, OR SIGNIFICANCE THAN A TEXT MSSGE FROM ANY OTHER COLD CALLER....SUCH IS THE STATUS OF THE BEEB LISTENER, GENERALLY.

TBH, I LISTENED TO 'FEEDBACK' REPEAT, LAST NIGHT, AND AM CONFUSED AS TO 'FRIENDS OF RADIO 3' .....IS THIS US? OR, SOME OTHER MB ID? IT'S JUST THAT IIRC, I THOUGHT I READ THAT 'FRIENDS OF R3' WAS ACTUALLY NO MORE? (OR WAS IT THE DEFUNCT R3OK)? YET, THE BEEB STILL REFER TO R3 FORUM COMPLAINTS AS BEING FROM 'FRIENDS OF R3'? IS THIS WHAT WE'RE ACTUALLY CALLED, OR DID ROGER MAKE IT UP?

BTW I PROMISE I WILL NOT DOFF MY CAPS WHEN I WRITE TO ROGER. I WILL (TRY TO) BE NORMAL INSTEAD. I FEAR THAT EITHER WAY, HE (AND RW) WILL IGNORE MY CONCERNS REGARDLESS.

BUT NEVERTHELESS, IT'S WORTH A GO.

LASTLY, THANKS FOR THE DETAILS AND EXTRA PROD BTW FRENCH FRANK.

        'Ullo, Handsome, tchk, tchk

FoR3 or Friends of Radio 3 definitely still is. This forum ('The Radio 3 Forum') is perched on the Friends' website as a 'tenant', since when the BBC axed the R3 boards last November people had nowhere else to go as a community. So FoR3 offered to set up this forum.

I have tried to keep the two entities separate (the Friends and the forum) so that people on the forum don't have to swear allegiance to FoR3, but nor does FoR3 want to be associated with every dam' thing said here.

The problem is that with such an active membership the forum is now the busiest part of the site. As long as the forum remains on the Friends' website [and if people want to make other arrangements to move the site elsewhere FoR3 will make no objection] I prefer to keep some control on what happens here because I don't want the saintly reputation of Friends to be tarnished by head-butting yobbos on the forum saying thing up with which we do not &c.

But, yes, the Feedback gent made no distinction which means half our new recruits become supporters of FoR3 and the other half join the forum by mistake

since when the BBC axed the R3 boards last November people had nowhere else to go as a community.

unfortunately, i remember this all too well french frank. i ploughed on with r4 mbs, till they too closed, then thought i'd take a break all together.

personally, i am choosier, only listening to small quantities of r3/r4, as opposed to lots, relying heavily on checking the schedule.

apologies for my confusion, but an existing for3 member kindly e mailed my bookmark link as follows, and i've stuck to it ever since.

          hence (part of) my confusion.

the link above works perfectly, despite claiming not to. but i hadn't noticed your web link, (...sorry).

nor does FoR3 want to be associated with every dam' thing said here.

          of course.x 5.

i think we all really appreciate your approach french frank. personally, i've never felt better represented 'online, digital and fm'. the hosting on this forum is pretty remarkable, especially in comparison to other mbs i've participated in, including defunct beeb boards.

the Feedback gent made no distinction

          ....

still, guest beeb 'strategists' sometimes contribute to 'feedback' but i sometimes wonder if they listen to 'feedback' themselves!. let's just hope so. after which, it can make you wonder about 'odd' views posted, but who's got the time to give that idea much thought?

for all i know, lea aspin's reading this post...... and other memories of mb posts of sad farewells, lightly drizzled with bursts of spite, posted by hasty beeb mb management, who couldn't wait to get rid. i can't for the life of me remember the name of the r3 jazz mb equavalent to lea. however, my personal r3 bookmark passes over flosshilde's last post thread, on the olde r3 mb. so, despite all, i have maintained a sense of continuity, of sorts. so, thanks again french frank & team, for taking all us 'orphans' in.

oops. i was one of those hasty beeb mb management types for a while (my name is, and was, Peter). it wasn't the easiest job in the world and i got quite a lot of stick on occasion (some of it deserved, some not). but on a more positive note, it's good to see a community is still going and some of ye olde names still pontificatin'. i'll be hoping to join in on occasion (that's if i don't get banned of course...:)
