    Ornette Coleman~The Hamburg Concert 1987

Ornette's quartet that recorded 'The Shape of Jazz to Come' & 'Change of the Century in 1959 reunited to perform 'The 1987 Hamburg Concert'(DOMINO 891214). The sound is excellent, the music electrifying and this is one of the best live Ornette recordings I've heard since his 1965 'Croydon Concert'. Most of the tunes appeared on their studio album 'In All Languages' recorded previously that year but there are also fascinating versions of 1950s' pieces such as 'Lonely Woman', 'The Sphinx' & 'Turnaround'.
