Wonder if it would be worth a go at 'Feedback' - see if they can get some facefree suit on air to squirm their way through a few questions. Here's the contact.

Interested to see that everyone else has yet to receive any sort of reply to their e-mail. I must admit that I was somewaht doubtful that there would be a response although it would be nice is someone from the beeb could perhaps post of generic message here instead of individual responses.

Personally I think that Roger Wright and his BBC friends and colleauges are really trying to kill of all music on Radio 3. Perhaps they want to cut it completely to help with the cuts that the Tory Eton Boy's have imposed on the old lady.

                FOR FEK'S SAKE!

WHAT IS HAPPENING? I used to wake up to R3, (R4's 6-9am "News Pantomine/arse lick with Justin" being a cause to murder a passing capitalist), but now R3 has gone CLassic FM, with "Lesley from Kent phoning in to say that vivacious VIvaldi reminds her of her ITALIAN holiday" WHO GIVES A FK?

Jazz is banished to midnight so as not to upset the rolling FM demographic...Hey, "WAY Too difficult" and the morning on 3 is "core classics"...blander than BLAND.

                DUMBER RHUMBA.

Off to buy an Intenet radio. SCREW THE BBC!

                BN.

The BBC have not got an effing clue.

Their "New Generation Artistes" maybe new generation but a lot of them are pretty dire. Aunty Beeb has completely lost her way and being raped on an hourly basis.

Ok your main point is agreed. But at the risk of being ungracious, it oftens seems to me that Jazz exists in splendid isolation from the other programmes on Radio 3.

Ask not what Radio 3 can do for Jazz, but what Jazz can do for Radio 3.

it used to help make the Third Programme and R3 sound serious about all music, credible, informed authoritative and interesting .... and it broadened as well as deepened a lot of jazbo palates would be my guess ...

there is a thread with the title Why Jazz Matters
