Despite his health issues, this interview shows he's still as sharp as a tack and is still able to play his piano with the right hand. A must-watch interview.

Thanks for posting this. I used to listen to Keith Jarrett a lot in the 1970s (Gnu HIgh, Backhand , etc.) but rather lost touch with his activities since.

It's a pity the presenter keeps calling him 'Keith Jurt'.

Just watched this. Interesting and touching in so many ways - particularly watching KJ relistening to his own music.

Started to watch this. Definitely worth watching - but will have to come back to it later as it's over 45 minutes.

Greatly enjoyed that, so thank you TF. I remember how distressed Keith was after going through that ME episode in the 1990s and emerging having to re-learn how to play from beginnings. Yet the stroke seems to have revealed a much more likeable Jarrett, shorn of that arrogance that could be so off-putting. He's mellowed, perhaps chasened. It was instructive hearing him talk about what he brought to jazz playing and the influence of gospel on the harmonic approach, though of course this was already present in earlier pianists such as Oscar Peterson and Horace Silver; also the Country influences he shared with Gary Burton, Pat Metheny and Charlie Haden, and one might add Mike Gibbs. A really worthwhile interview with a sympathetic interviewer.

Agree, though the nodding dog shots of the interviewer could be a bit off-puttting at times!

Always interesting to hear musicians you admire talking about their music. Thanks for posting it.

I would love to see this interview but the intro made me feel nauseous. I will try again but this time finding exactly where KJ starts talking.

Yeah, I am put off by Beato, purely on the basis of the title of one of his videos... might eventually get round to watching this... when, I cannot say.

I've seen far worse interviewers, though I can now see what some might find disagreeable.
