Baritone Peter Braithwaite celebrates five very different singers, concluding with Alabama blues singer Vera Hall (1902-64), whose extraordinary voice was recorded several times by renowned American ethnomusicologist Alan Lomax in the 1930s. A sample of her vocals also features in the 2000 chart hit Natural Blues by electronic musician Moby.
For all who missed it first time around, this is a repeat.
