    Major new London jazz venue to open this month

    A brave venture, given the parlous circumstances now facing the arts.

    Saxophonist Tony Kofi’s award-winning Thelonious Monk tribute quartet, pianists Julian Joseph OBE and Zoe Rahman, Jazz FM Breakthrough Act, drummer Jas Kayser and internationally revered Danish bassist Jasper Høiby...are among the musicians set to appear in the first season of events at World Heart Beat Embassy Gardens, the vibrant new concert venue in the heart of


    The programme of appearances looks certain to attract the broad jazz following I think it deserves, so hats off for this initiative. Embassy Gardens is where the American Embassy now is, halfway between Vauxhall and Battersea Power Station on the south side of the Thames, and so will be reasonably easy to get to, whether by bus or Overground. Or bicycle in my case!
