"THE JAZZ EXPERIMENTERS" a US TV programme with both the Mingus and Cecil Taylor groups. Plus Ralf Ellison and Martin Williams "discussing" the music and links to contemporary European classical music...or not.
Some excellent footage.

It is quite funny to see Mingus coupled with Cecil Taylor like this. Everytime i hear Mingus, I just hear Ellington. For me, Mingus comes right out of the tradition and I would not consider it inaccessible or difficult in the least. In fact, the appeal of Mingus' music is that it is so easy to listen to.

I live in hope of seeing concert footage of Albert Ayler one day. I'm sure some must exist
Here's the Charles Mingus Quintet at Nice J.F., 1977 playing the title track from the overlooked album 'Cumbia and Jazz Fusion':
Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.
