I just came across the excellent following article on the Irish vocalist in AllAboutJazz:

In these days of truncated PR blurb on musician websites, when one gets to lean little about the person in question beyond going and projected work, this organ really does seem to be fulfilling a need once satisfied by mags such as The Wire and Avant. Well worth subscribing to as well!

Interesting article S_A. I was surprised, though, not to find a reference to Meredith Monk, who has pioneered many of the techniques mentioned in the article such as singer/composer/performer/ improvisor. She particularly worked at voice production and voice as an instrument in ensembles and solo performances, with additional input from drama and choreography.

I noticed too The Thought Fox by Ted Hughes, not read for a long time. I've included it in the Poetry thread.

Finally I post a piece by MM - so many to choose from - which fits more readily into a Jazz thread even if it might not be Jazz - MM did not label her music. In Wiki she's Classical.
