Sat 6 Nov
5pm - J to Z
Jumoké Fashola with live music from Miami-born vocalist Cécile McLorin Salvant, accompanied by collaborator Sullivan Fortner in a concert from earlier this year at San Francisco venue SF Jazz. And US virtuoso guitarist Julian Lage shares inspirations.
This is a repeat.
12midnight - Freeness
Corey Mwamba with new jazz and improvised music, tonight including a work by Australian percussionist Abe Rounds, inspired by an old VHS film of his four-year-old self and drawing on his Polynesian, Sephardic Jew, Iraqi and Hungarian heritages. Saxophonist Catherine Sikora invites listeners to re-evaluate conventional ideas about strength and weakness, through extended tonal explorations. And soprano Alya Al-Sultani and turntablist Mariam Rezaei join forces in a live performance that gives new voice to Middle Eastern poetry, hip-hop and noise.
The names seem familiar but there's no indication if this is a repeat.
