    Swapping for a Younger Brandee

    Sat 27 March
    5pm - J to Z

Kevin Le Gendre present a home session by harpist Brandee Younger and bassist Dezron Douglas, recorded in Brooklyn. Ali Shaheed Muhammad, co-founder of New York jazz-influenced hip-hop act A Tribe Called Quest, shares music that inspires him, and bassist William Parker introduces one of his latest compositions.

    This is a repeat.

Live music from the harp and bass duo. Plus A Tribe Called Quest’s Ali Shaheed Muhammad.

    12midnight - Freeness
Corey Mwamba showcases the theremin, including new music from Birmingham-based collaborative trio Bobhowler, in which Tom Mills explores the range of soundscapes and textures of the instrument alongside Andrew Woodhead on piano and electronics and Alicia Gardener-Trejo on baritone saxophone and flute. Plus an early release from British saxophonist and composer Steve Williamson.

My guessing is Steve's excellent LP A Waltz for Grace.

That God is more important to programme planners than Radio 3 Jazz Record Requesters has already been made clear this month, so, diabolical liberty etc - nuff said?

JRR seems to have become a fortnightly programme recently. Several hours of jazz broadcasting must have been lost this year due to Radio 3 planners' preference for God & classical music.

Yep - irrationalists everywhere seem to be taking over the world nowadays.

I thought the annual JesusFest is next weekend? That's when they normally mess about with what's left of the jass output on R3.
