    Jazz Library 6.viii.11 4p.m.

yes folks same old time not the new whizz to enthuse the jazz audience, middle of the night ...

Alyn plays tracks suggested by listeners in response to the broadcast programmes ...strong brit representation including the wonderful ms Winstone with John Taylor and Kenny Wheeler ...

if you feel any trace of irritation or discontent at the rescheduling, may i urge you to email the programme using the link on its web page ... Alyn will convey the messages to 'management'

after you have done that you could consider the Prime Minister, the Culture Secretary, the Rt Hon Ken Clarke, your MP, the chair of the Culture Ctte and all its members, the Chair of BBC Trust Lord Patten and Uncle Tom Cobley but i wouldn't trouble yerselves .... skin, rice pudding and can't knock off come to mind eh?

GRIFFIN is TRES SPIFFIN. "What's New" from that album is a GEM.

    ANYWAYS...

I will write immediately to REBEKAH and James - they usually have Sunday lunch with (jolly chum) Mark Thompson at the Chipping Norton bijou-hakery. They often tell him to give Evan and Justin even more QUALITY time right up business leaders arzses on the WONDERFUL Today program. It can be done? Surely not.

@Calumn - Thought you might be interested in this obit since you always publish such attractive LP covers.

If anybody's on this thread, track 4 in a few minutes - Bobby Wellins's title track from his 1979 album, is just FANTASTIC: Bobby (as rarely imho) in IDEAL company (Jacobsen (rip) Kendon, Wells) that really brings out the meaning of his tight/loose way of pacing like no one else. Terrific album - right up there with Miles's ESP. Imv - of course!

Interactive jazz of this order NEVER dates.

Huge thanks to whoever requested this - and to Alyn & co.

Peter and Bobby were a great partnership. Peter was an acquaintance of mine, a friend of a friend.

TA...Execellent Wellins - Excellent prog. Ta Alyn.

Dave Taylor of Purbrook (J.Rook?) had a field day!...and then a hip James Moody Mingus on JRR!

I content myself with Mike Taylor. "Trio" is a fascinating record. And my copy is worth a FORTUNE (no begging letters or email hackers pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze).

Apologies - Mr Taylor had Yusef and Elvin on JRR.
Great to hear Le Latef stretchin out - his (totally neglected) Impulse albums although sometimes a bit "exotic" contain some tenor gems.

An embarrassment of riches, Bluesnik. You wait for years and then 3 come along at once! You're lucky to have that Mike Taylor album. Keep it safe!

Has anyone on here got "Pendulum" - the earlier Mike Taylor Quartet album? I'd have loved to hear that.

'jazz library' was a really great programme this week, i really enjoyed it too.

however, i do think that serial apologist seemed to get several choices of tune....as coincidentally quite a few selections seemed right up his street.

i wondered if you'd slipped alyn some cash serial?

incidentally, when's the next listener feedback 'jl'?

"Phineas was nice with Booker Little"

Yes, Phineas playing "After Hours" was OK/ "interesting" , but there is a far better (and as modern) version of this by Red Garland (yes, Red could also play deeply blue) on Prestige with a stretching Coltrane and a (then) useful Donald Byrd, c. 1957. Worth a listen. And Ray Bryant did it well with Dizzy, Rollins and Stitt.

                              BN.

That Jack Wilson track on JRR was a neat change - his Bluenote (with Lee Morgan and Jackie) and Atlantic albums are now almost forgotten.
