A stranger to this board asking for some help....
During a holiday with relatives in Italy, this one probably 1956 or 1958, when I was 11 or 13, my cousins were playing a 78 rpm of September Song. As I remember this was of Sidney Bechet playing (I assume) soprano sax, and crucially I remember there was a vocal chorus. It is possible that I have conflated two different memories, but so far I have not found such a recording by Bechet - all the examples on YouTube are instrumental only.
For various reasons, this memory has a haunting quality - not least because of the words, though also some personal cirumstances. I was astonished to discover later in life that the composer is Weill.
Does any one know of such a recording?
