I want to get out and play live again !!!

I'm now getting fed up with playing along to iReal Pro, Aebersold tracks & Band In A Box.

I want to play real music with other musicians with an audience again. The lockdown is beginning to have an impact on the mental health of musicians.

    We live for our music.

Just out of curiosity, CGR, how old are you?
Will you at all be saddened if several audience members become fatally ill as a result of your concert? Or your colleagues?
Everyone is sick of the lockdown. Mental Health is indeed important. However, to my knowledge as a Physician, no one ends up being placed on a ventilator due to boredom

Life is full of risks. Before WW2 people had to live alongside TB, Smallpox, Polio, etc. They coped. We now have to relearn to do the same.

Do you really want to go back to life before WW2? That's not in itself a good example. There were probably some good things, and a lot of bad ones. The better things would have been enjoyed by the richer, while the less good things would have been suffered by the rest of the population.

Well, you did not answer the first question put by richrdfinegold but what you did respond with suggests you are at least a nonagenarian. Still playing jazz in public. Pretty impressive.

Merely referring to history. Our ancestors had to get on with their lives in much harder times in the past.

Of course not, but it may not be an option. We may all have to learn to live with Covid-19 in the same way as populations in the past lived with TB.

Live performance is the essence of all music, but jazz in particular.

No. Your prescription looks more like failing to learn and dying with COVID-19.

That's surely still true to an extent. The wealthy and advantaged will always be more successful at looking after themselves.

                          Nope. Not in my book.

No atmosphere, no real attention to the body language of the other players, eye contact, signals, etc. Nothing like the feeling of being up on the stand or stage with others in front of an audience.

When I wrote 'And that's Jazz' (with a question mark) I was thinking more of the attitude I felt was expressed in your post. I always regarded jazz players as people who were generally concerned about society and the problems experienced by people - often themselves.
I think though, now that you mention it, that recording and the wireless were essential to Jazz in particular becoming viral.

If it was, it would have to be very Trad jazz...
