    Certainly was live
Not the same as in a room with the others and the audience
but as much a live gig as a broadcast

Music has many forms and contexts

I didn't realise you had to be able to SEE to be a musician .... fascinating idea

"No atmosphere, no real attention to the body language of the other players, eye contact, signals, etc. Nothing like the feeling of being up on the stand or stage with others in front of an audience." -CGR.

Or indeed, like being in a IC ward, hooked up to a ventilator, waterboarded and choking in your own "fluids" and facaes, while badly protected NHS staff do their utmost to keep you alive. But, what is that compared to you and "the lads" banging out another vital version of "Cherokee", "Stardust" and being musically daring in these unique times, an "untitled blues". Why, it's like Shostakovich in Leningrad. "Defiance"!

"Tonight ladies and gents, we have the legendary (and local) "Jazz Narcissists", no strangulated coughing to show your appreciation, please wait until the end of the first set to expire."

Probably why Bach and Handel were such useless musicians in his later years.

I’m just taking the opportunity to practise the stuff I’ve put aside for too long. Look upon it as an opportunity.

It's ironic how my playing seems now to be improving in direct proportion to the ever-growing unlikelihood of my ever becoming part of any band.

My guitar playing and song writing has benefitted enormously. My reworking of the old blues, "Corina, Corina", now titled "Corona, Corona" is almost ready for final mastering. "Face Masking Mamma" (don't you breath on me), my take on an old Blind Boy Fuller rag, is a topical foot stomper. Can't wait to hit the folk clubs again, fingers crossed. (Or..... in my left ear).

They also died. Life expectancy was much shorter then. My father had polio at age 8 and never had a "normal life". If he could have avoided it by some social distancing believe me he would have.
you must be a damn good player if trekking out to hear you live is worth endangering the audience

Wrong genre, but suddenly was reminded of the hymn, 'Breathe on me breath of God...' The words take on a rather uncomfortable cast in the present circumstances.
