Dexter Gordon, getting down with kids, Dex hosting an impromptu class with young Danish schoolchildren. It switches to an interview after c 6mins where he talks about liking to do some "older" teaching. He would have been excellent, full of charm and humanity. And the music! Btw this comes via Cory Weeds and is from the Hank Mobley etcTV program...could there be more? We shout!
I saw this band in Vienne. One of rhe loudest gigs I have been to. I went on a lunch with members of the Vanguard JO the next day and they were aghast at the negative review in the local paper. Too noisy and bombastic and did not like Frank Gambale's guitar . One of those reviews which did not hold back.
I love Chick when playing acoustic but not a fan when plugged in

To tell the truth, Ian, I didn't get too far into that video - having high expectations given it's had over a million views - I agree, just the opening blues is disappointing, with drums and bass relegated to a twee role, so that each soloist might be playing over a backing track.
But I disagree with you about Chick plugging in. What is it with this silly arbitrary notion that by plugging in keyboardists do something bad? Never been the case with guitarists, has it? I love Chick plugged in with Miles, or in the Five Peace Band.

I like the sound of the fender rhodes but otherwise feel that synth sounds tend to date rapidly. With regards to Chick, he is one of my favourite pianists and I just prefer to hear him sat at a grand.
Incidentally, the Elektric band gig was one of the loudest I have been to and made the concert an unpleasant experience regardless of the fact that this band seemed to be a bit wooden to my ears.
A very brief acknowledgement to Godard's passing, A Bout De' Souffle ("Breathless"), excellent score by Martial Solal and any excuse to look at Jean Seberg...
Think this is a clip of John Gilmore with Charles Mingus at Lennie's-on-the-Turnpike in 1966 at the start of this documentary film. Pity it's not longer.
A film by Thomas Reichman (1968)around Mingus eviction from Lower East Side loft at 22 Great Jones Street, on November 22, 1966. The tube 00:00All the things...
Horace Silver Quintet, Live Antibes July 1964 (Colourised). With the Joe Henderson and Carmell Jones front line. Carmell excellent, and I'm slightly surprised how much freedom JH had in this group as I know at the end they, Horace & Joe had a bust up. But, fine stuff and almost the full set . ..

<thanks> for that one Bluesnik, always a treat to see Joe H. He uses his "bagpipe" sound at the start of his solo on "Tokyo Blues" before veering off-piste.
Though it would be a better video if it wasn't interrupted every seven minutes or so by shitverts.
