My request would have been for the Billy Taylor Trio's There'll Never Be Another You from 1957. I remember being blown away by the left hand line at about 3'25" and how it goes in a different metre for a while - did the guy have two brains or something? I was about 15 years old and it was probably the first time I really listened to what was going on in the music, as opposed to just going "Oh wow!" or something. And the dramatic ending, slowed down and with octaves, and that dramatic switch to the minor for the final decisive tremolo chord. Lucky to find it on utube!

Bud on this form has to be one of the very greatest improvisors, he just takes my breath away.

Who would have thought it - Pharoah Sanders plays Dave Brubeck. Pharoah's take on "In your own sweet way" with John Hicks, Walter Booker and Idris Muhammad

NHOP would have been 16 at the time!

"Have you met Miss Jones" has a great set of changes and the duo of Phil Woods and Enrico Pieranunzi make the most of them on this performance.
