Surprised no one has mentioned the Tubby Hayes Big Band's 1964 Jazz 625 TV broadcast. There are five tracks altogether, the first being Parisian Thoroughfare:
Some lovely Tubby, fine Jimmy Deuchar and Terry Shannon, but my favourite track is the second, In The Night, with an excellent intro and solo by Terry - who, by the way, is still alive at the age of 91 and living in Lincolnshire: http://henrybebop.co.uk/shannon.htmComment

The first tune has very Tippett-esque harmonies to my ears, full of stacked fourths and fifths. Brad Mehldau is on piano...
