        A bit of rootsy-tootsie.

The best roots-based music from across the world.

        Thanks for this news, Alyn

Is "JRR" being moved to Sundays to be "near the exit"? Suspicion rises. Is Saturday afternoon on R3 to be "magaziney" in pursuit of the youthful demographic? Surely Saturday is where JRR has always been and where its expected to be. People of taste and sophistication (me) arrange their weekends around this iconic "institution". Seriously, why not leave well alone. Juggling schedules is a listener disincentive whatever the "bright 2.1 kids" on work experience think.

They seem to be scheduled for 3:00pm - so I think JRR in its new Sunday slot will be replacing the 4:00pm Proms repeats?

                Dec 2014 Telegraph:
"For anyone who loves jazz, BBC Radio 3’s Jazz Record Requests is the most familiar and rock-solid thing in the musical landscape. During its 50-year span musicians and bands have come and gone, and jazz festivals, clubs and record labels have started up, flourished, and in some cases faded away. But Jazz Record Requests just keeps going and going. It’s actually the longest running jazz show anywhere in the world, beating Marion McPartland’s Piano Jazz on the American NPR network by some distance. Get into the habit of listening to it, and you’ll find that in its undogmatic, friendly way, JRR (as its fans call it) will give you a deep and wide education, in the only way that really counts in jazz – an education by ear."

"Rock solid" means Saturdays. As Theresa Mayhem would say..."JRR means JRR means SATURDAYS"!

                BN.

It would appear so from the October listings in BBC Music.
