    Wondered if you had read the blue Note book "Uncompromising expression" yet? I picked up my copy of the weekend and thought it was lavish but a cursory scan through it surprised me how scant the information was within it. I think Bluesnik could have done better. Curious to see some celebrated records missing from the profile (No "Hootin' & tootin" by Fred Jackson which is one of my favourites and not much from the 1980's / 90's. Can't understand why there is no reference to Don Grolnick whose two albums for Blue Note are as good as anything recorded on the label.)

      yep the Grolnick albums are five stars ... i've stopped reading books on jazz Ian ... dk why they just do not appeal, last one was probably the one about recording Kinda Blue ..
