Something tasty and Italian: the Enrico Rava Quintet's "Easy Living".

Lyrical contemporary mainstream from an all-Italian band with Stefano Bollani on piano. The use of trombone (Gianluca Petrella) rather than sax as the second horn gives the group a lovely warm uncliched sound.

            Shocked and stunned, Calum!

Giving the thumbs up to a record that features Jazz-god Bill Frisell ? Whatever next?

Amazing to relaise that some of the most unusual sounds on this track are actually coming from Vu's trumpet as opposed to the guitar which would normally be expected to be the case. More evidence was the originality and quality of today's jazz scene?
A great track but a shame about the hefty price being asked of by Amazon. See Vu twice with Metheny and think he is a great and original thinker. However, if you like this kind of sound, check out Frisell's excpetional "Quartet" which features the equally undervalued trumpet of Ron Miles.

Shades of Frippery and a bit of Nils Petter Molvaer to my ears
or even Jon Hassell with less processing ?

Awful - just awful. I shall wake up tomorrow and discover that this posting was just a bad dream.

Both. I just had a second take, just to make sure my initial response had not merely been an emotional spasm.

Sorry ............. I have a soft spot for that kind of stuff (for some it's Dolly Parton , for me noodly "jazz" with live electronic bits !)

Oh I listened to it first before it clouded my judgement!
