Jazz in Kyoto

Bit of a long shot here. We're going to Kyoto in a couple of weeks time and I'm well aware of the vibrancy of the jazz scene in Japan. Just wondering if anyone could recommend any particular jazz venues in Kyoto. I see Rag doesn't open until 12pm which is evocative of late nights in Soho but maybe I'm romanticising a bit too much. Besides 12pm is way past my bedtime these days but still...if it is THE place ...
