Galvinised Cooker bonanza goes to the Victor

    Sat April 20
    4pm - Jazz Record Requests

Alyn Shipton with the full spectrum of listeners' requests, tody featuring Benny Goodman, Regina Carter, Dizzy Reece and Ornette Coleman.

    5pm - J to Z
Julian Joseph introduces pianist Elliot Galvin and his trio in a performance of music from his new album Modern Times*, in which he moves away from electronic instrumentation and embraces a fully acoustic sound. Galvin is also a member of Mercury Prize-nominated jazz quartet Dinosaur. And New orleans-born trumpeter Christian Scott shares his musical inspirations.

    *What a Charlie!

Julian Joseph presents a live session from young pianist Elliot Galvin and his trio.

    12midnight - Geoffrey Smith's Jazz
Geoffrey Smith remembers the music of xylophone virtuoso Red Norvo (1908-99), born Kenneth Norville in Beardstown, llinois. He appeared alongside vocal star Mildred Bailey and was featured soloist with Benny Goodman and Woody Herman, later forming a groundbreaking trio with bassist Charles Mingus.

    Easter Monday
    11pm - Jazz Now

Soweto Kinch presents a concert by the Cookers in concert, with Eddie Henderson and David Weiss on trumpet[s], Donald Harrison and Billy Harper on reeds, Danny Grissett on keyboards, bassist Essiet Okon Essiet and drummer Victor Lewis.

Listeners wishing to play along who just happen to be sunbathing on Waterloo Bridge or in Parliament Square are requested to bring their own penny farthings, bongos, kazoos, tea chest double basses, "I Support HS2" T-shirts, and transistor radios.

    Fri Apr 26 - Radio 2
8pm - Friday Night is Music Night

For the sake of inclusivity I had to include this:

"Chris Egan conducts the BBC Concert Orchestra in an alleged jazz special featuring singer and Madeline Bellringer with her cross-dressing backing group the Camp Analogists, along with Pumping Anthony Strongbrew. Plus the Big Band Bonanza! led wearing a stetson on a white charger by Joe Stilgoe, (which I won't), who presents the concert, which features arrangements by Ruddy Bitch, Nelson's News Column Riddle, Count Dracula - accompanied by his F sharp Teeth backing singers, Dram Glenfyddich and the Bagpiping Hip Hop Kiltz Girls, all the way from Hangover, Gordon Niceboy, and Stan Kentish Town - whose nearest tourist hotspot is Camden Lock".
