Really good Saturday afternoon, from JRR with Harold and Elmo, through Stan Tracey and Tony Coe etc, and then J to Z, especially for the late Roy Hargrove and his "picks". That Donald Byrd/McLean Bluenote album "Fuego" is one I bought as a "yoof" on import and it is indeed very fine. Shows how your tastes change because I originally bought it for "Amen" which is a soul/gospel thing and the session's weakest tune. The title track is reminiscent of "Out of this World" and is just brilliant. As is Jackie McLean. Rip Mr Hargrove. Very sad.
