God's Wilmer: the Luft waffer returns - paws after a Leak

    Sat 20 Oct
    4pm - Jazz Record Requests

    5pm - J to Z
Kevin Le Gendre introduces Norwich trio Mammal Hands, who combine hypnotic grooves and ambient textures with influences from Indian classical music, European folk and minimalism. They perform music from their latest album Shadow Work. Plus classic tracks and new releases.

Hypnotic grooves and ambient textures from celebrated UK trio Mammal Hands.

    12midnight - Geoffrey Smith's Jazz
Known for his comic growls and slurs on the trombone, Vic Dickenson (1906-84) was also a laid-back, supple soloist and, in the 1950s, leader of a series of classic combo sessions featuring the likes of Edmund and Ruby Braff. Geoffrey Smith salutes a well-loved sliphorn star.

    Mon 22 Oct
    11pm - Jazz Now

Soweto Kinch presents a concert given by pianist Ashley Henry's trio, with Donald Fergus on bass and Jordan Hadfield on drums, recorded in July at the Manchester Jazz Festival.

And, SUPREMELY not to be missed, on telly:

Thanks for activating the fine tooth comb and spotting this, JR. It doesn't appear to be a repeat of a similarly-titled programme of a few years ago.

And : a feature in today's (19/10/3018) New York Times..."A Sweaty Night Out in London’s New Jazz Scene", an enthusiastic piece all about the "New British Jazz" and the Ezra Collective (?) and the "Steam Down" night (?).

It's all hap hap happening in London town, it's the beat beatitude, the beat of the beat, where Jack Kerouac Jnr has a cup of Rosie Lee, writes free and says, "don't be put down by that old jazz bourgeoisie". But it's later for me.
