Nonsense - it's certainly of my present time. Too many jazz snobs, worse perhaps than classical snobs (no applause between movements) and folk snobs (must sing without instruments!!!!

For those with long memories, Jazz on 3 replaced Impressions, and Jazz Line-Up replaced Jazz Notes. Jazz File was replaced by Jazz Library, and it was replaced by Geoffrey Smith's Jazz. Those of us involved with Jazz Now (and yes, OG I am Executive Producer of that) will be working hard with J to Z to make sure that between us we're covering a broad spectrum of what is going on. But I'd say, notwithstanding, that maybe to ensure some areas of jazz continue to be represented on the radio it's important to keep requesting as wide a spectrum as possible for JRR....

Does this signal a greater likelihood of a return of previous co-operation between the various BBC3 Jazz programs - and hopefully Late Junction too - to give us the complete and best quality BBC concert recordings? Examples are...

1. Jazz Lineup gave us several partial (but still incomplete) highest quality (and no compression) re-broadcasts of the Jan Garbarek Highlight concert in the 2016 London Jazz Festival, which was originally broadcast live on the Radio 3 Live Jazz channel in what was obviously the FM compressed edit live and then put on the i-Player in mono. I was at the concert and the RFH venue mix was very poor whilst the JLU snippets were hugely better quality so we lience payers deserve to hear the best quality complete version.

2. Black Top MAC Birmingham had only half the set broadcast on Jazz Now and of the other half (shared with Late Junction) only one short track (of four or five) has appeared so far.

3. Jazz Now has had to shorten some great concerts due to the broadcast time limit, so it would be great to finally hear the rest of the Liberation Music Orchestra London Jazz Festival 2016 set and also a later Carla Bley concert whose details I forget but I believe there have been comments to you about restoring the 'Missing Bits' Jazz on 3 program that served to give us enthusiasts the opportunity to get complete concerts.

A few years ago the Julian Joseph 'Jazz Legends' programme was always a good listen and quite educational for me who has an interest in Jazz, but a limited knowledge of it. The Programme disappeared as part of one of R3's homogenising of the daytime schedules!

Interesting that BBC Radio 2 broadcast the complete Randy Crawford set live from the Cheltenham Jazz Festival last Wednesday - 1 hour and 33 minutes including here jabbering drivel between songs (how do they get away with it???).

"Al Foster in Concert" - it says for yesterday's J to Z!!!!! Actually it was just 3 tracks, each played separately lasting roughly 24 minutes and 55 seconds in total, with a record track played in between. Is this another case of only being licensed to play 3 tracks? If so, could they not have been played together?

A search tells me that 55 minutes (all?) of this concert was broadcast in Germany on 23/12/17 and repeated 23/12/17.

Ah ha, I just found a 320kbps upload of the German broadcast in flac format - 54mins 41 secs which is downloading very slowly indeed. If anyone is interested I'll put it in my dropbox.

I just downloaded it from a fellow Dimers web page and the playlist says 57min, 6 tracks.
