    Usual emoluments will apply
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

You've been missed in the last week or so, Calum. I've so been looking forward to giving you a comprehensive boring about my Cafe Oto / free music conversion.

I'll be glad to see you back here in due course.

Your regular presenter/ poster to these boreds will be absenting himself shortly (programmes having been recorded) to the hotter climes of SW France. BUT I will be checking regularly to see what you lot have to say.

Alyn - I recently replayed a tape of your Jazz Lib review of Roy Haynes's career with an interview with Roy centre stage. WONDERFUL programme, and one that makes nonsense of my moan about the "bias" of interviewed centred programmes (Griffin). Apologies.

            BN.

Only just came across this - apologies to charles.

Back in the early 60s, I was a teenager much enamoured of the black shirt I had saved up for over several months and wore with a narrow white tie. "Better to not wear that in France", my father told me just prior to visiting on a school exchange thingy, "unless, that is, you don't mind ending up with a knife in your back".

So I didn't. They liked my white winkle-pickers though!
